This is great information. I have a question, though. In my case, I already have a WordPress blog and would like to move it to a hosting site so that I can advertise on it if I wish. Is there a way to upload all one’s previously published posts to the new domain name? (Sorry if that’s incorrect, I’ve been blogging for a long time, but I’d be lying if I said I was tech savvy – hence the cry for help).

Yes there is a way to move your content and it is fairly simple. In your current WordPress website’s admin area look under tools and choose export. You can export posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags into a file on your computer. In your new (non wordpress.com) website, install WordPress and set your options (settings, permalinks etc.) and then under tools use the import option to import the file you saved from your old website.
